Bending around the finished component
The useful starting point is the finished drawing, not simply a request for a number of bends. Tell us how the part fits into your product and which dimensions matter at assembly. We can then discuss bending-only work or a wider cut-and-bend requirement.
Channels and formed profiles
Enquire about U-shaped, C-shaped, angled and other drawing-based folded profiles. Include length, flange dimensions, material thickness and the required angle or radius, rather than describing the part only as a standard channel.
Brackets, panels and housings
Discuss mounting brackets, trays, covers and enclosure panels. Note cut-outs, mating faces and any return folds on the drawing so the proposed shape and the required stage of supply are clear.

Details that make a bending enquiry clear
Finished dimensions
State whether dimensions are inside or outside dimensions. Mark bend angles, bend direction, required radii and critical fits. Include a section view where a flat drawing does not clearly describe the final profile.
Blank and material
Send both the flat layout and finished drawing when available. State grade, thickness, blank dimensions, quantities and whether blanks already exist. Ask us to review the forming requirement before preparing a batch of blanks.
Appearance and assembly
Identify visible faces, protective film and any surface-mark restrictions. Tell us whether the part will be welded, coated or fitted to another component. Cosmetic and inspection requirements should be agreed, not assumed.
Example enquiry: “Please quote for 25 folded panels to the attached finished drawing. The outside face is visible in use. Please confirm the bending scope and whether you can include cutting the blanks. The required quantity and target date are noted in the enquiry.”
Combine cutting, bending and fabrication
A bent bracket may also need profile cutting. An enclosure may need several different panels and subsequent welding. Include the whole requirement so we can separate the quotation into material, processing and assembly where relevant. Supply may stop at a formed component or extend to an agreed assembly stage.

Questions about press brake work
Can I enquire about bending pre-cut blanks?
Yes. Send the finished drawing and the blank details before delivery. Material condition, dimensions and the requested shape need to be reviewed before the job is accepted.
Can I request a particular finish or minimal tool marking?
State the visible surfaces and acceptable appearance in the enquiry. We will discuss what can be agreed for that material and shape. Do not assume a completely mark-free result without a specific review.
Why is the final drawing needed when I already know the bend count?
The bend count alone does not describe the profile, critical dimensions, material or handling requirements. The final drawing lets the quotation address the actual component and the work expected after bending.
